We could tell immediately that it was homemade style food. They don't serve alcohol. I respect that a lot, even though I do like a good Margarita. We got to speak with the owner. This is the type of place you keep coming back to. The interior is beautiful, a little small and welcoming. Make sure to check out the bathroom if you go. The owner and the atmosphere are very inviting. If you can, take a second to strike up conversation with the owner. The food is simply stellar. Other unique items include enfrijoladas, cochinita pibil (a type of slow-cooked pork), discada (mixed meat), and chicharron prensado (pressed pork). If you are a lover of the HEAT make sure to try their quesabirria and their birria ramen. Can’t wait to go back and experience their other unique flavors they got to offer. ”

“ First time visit to Mexico El Sangre in Janesville WI. It's small, colorful and very busy. The food is just fabulous. Our favorite was the Red (Rojas) Tacos with marinated Pork. It's juicy, messy and incredibly delicious. The Owner of El Sangre is an essential part of the experience. He exudes enthusiasm. He visits every table, welcomes guests, explains the food and makes recommendations. Food is made fresh and arrives quickly. Highly recommend. ”

“ "Mexico in the Blood". That's the name. Probably the most authentic Mexican food in Janesville. I have spent a lot of time in California and in Texas on the border (Brownsville, McCallen, Pharr). This food took me there again. The owners son ran the dining room and cash register. His service was great. Fortunado, the owner, brought us samples of pineapple water, hibiscus tea, and horchata. All were fantastic. He followed that up with samples of meat. We ordered chicken flautas, quesobirria, shrimp tacos, and pork rojas tamale. Everything was great and the service was fantastic! ”
